On June 22, Media Lab Siso, Ahn’s agency, stated, "Ahn Young-mi’s second child is a boy, and the birth will take place in Korea." They further clarified, "Her husband, who resides in the U.S., will also return to Korea in time for the birth to be by her side." It is reported that Ahn is scheduled to give birth to her second child via cesarean section next week.
The speculation began after Ahn posted on her social media on the 21st, announcing that she would be taking a break for the birth of her second child, saying, "I will return safely after a healthy and successful delivery." Currently the host of MBC FM4U’s 'Date at 2 PM, I'm Ahn Young-mi', she has expressed her regret and gratitude to the radio production team and listeners before entering her maternity leave.
However, as news of her maternity leave spread, some online communities and social media platforms began circulating baseless rumors, asking, "Isn't she giving birth in the U.S. again?"
Ahn previously faced controversy regarding "overseas birth" in 2023 when she gave birth to her first son in the United States. At the time, she explained that she chose to go to the U.S. to share the precious moment of her first child's birth with her husband, who was working there. Despite her explanation, she suffered from malicious comments and rumors. Her agency at the time stated, "Ahn Young-mi temporarily halted her broadcast activities to share the joy of childbirth with her husband, who lives and works in the U.S.," and warned that they would consider strong legal action against the spread of false information and malicious comments.
With similar rumors resurfacing alongside the news of her second pregnancy, the agency acted quickly to officially confirm that this birth would take place in Korea, firmly drawing a line against groundless speculation.
Meanwhile, Ahn Young-mi married a non-celebrity husband who works in the U.S. in 2020 and welcomed her first son in 2023.
